McLeod PowerBroker alternatives: pricing, reviews and 6 options (2026)

McLeod's PowerBroker and LoadMaster are deep, founder-owned and quote-priced. Compare them with Tai, Rose Rocket, Turvo, Revenova, Alvys and FreightVero.

Short answer

McLeod doesn’t publish pricing for PowerBroker (brokers) or LoadMaster (carriers) as of September 10, 2026. Brokers can compare Tai TMS ($995/mo), Turvo ($5,000/mo), Revenova ($2,500/mo on AppExchange) and FreightVero ($349/mo). Carriers can compare Rose Rocket ($2,080/mo) and Alvys ($3.95/load). Some teams keep McLeod and add AI agents instead.

McLeod at a glance

McLeod Software was founded in 1985 by Tom McLeod, who is still President and CEO. It’s based in Birmingham, Alabama, has 570+ employees, and says it is “owned entirely by the founder and management team” with “no outside investors.” McLeod claims 1,200+ active customers and a “96% customer retention rate over the last 40 years.”

McLeod sells two main TMS products. PowerBroker runs freight brokerages and 3PLs. LoadMaster runs truckload carriers, with LoadMaster LTL for LTL carriers. Around them sit DocumentPower imaging, integrated accounting (GL, AR, AP), a built-in EDI engine, carrier and customer portals, MPact pricing and bid management, and driver and safety management. You can run it on-premise, in your own cloud, or hosted by McLeod.

McLeod pricing

Not public. Neither McLeod’s site nor the review listings publish prices as of September 10, 2026, so we won’t estimate one. Implementation timelines and contract terms aren’t published either. Expect a sales process with a scoped quote.

Integrations and AI

McLeod lists “Over 260 off-the-shelf, fully tested integrations backed by more than 140 Certified Partners.” The PowerBroker page names DAT, Truckstop, 123Loadboard, MacroPoint, project44, FourKites, Trucker Tools, Highway, RMIS, MyCarrierPortal, SaferWatch, Triumph, Greenscreens, Parade, Vooma and QuickBooks. AI comes from RespondAI, which creates quotes and orders from inbound emails, plus partners: Augment’s agent inside PowerBroker (August 2026) and a CloneOps.ai voice partnership for carrier sales (October 2025).

What reviewers say

PowerBroker has no separate Capterra or G2 review page. LoadMaster rates 3.7/5 on Capterra from 16 reviews, with ease of use at 3.1 (as of September 10, 2026). One reviewer called it “one of the most all-encompassing TMS systems,” and another wrote “You can pretty much run any report you need.” Critical reviewers wrote “The interface seemed very outdated,” “Very complicated, not easy to use at all,” “It is very very expensive,” and that heavy use “can make the program crash or lag.”

Why teams look for McLeod alternatives

McLeod’s retention claim suggests most customers stay. People searching McLeod reviews and pricing tend to fall into three groups.

  • Buyers who can’t get a number. With no public pricing, smaller brokerages want to know early whether McLeod is in range. Our TMS pricing guide lists what vendors do publish.
  • Teams feeling the complexity. Ease of use scores 3.1 on Capterra for LoadMaster, and reviewers mention cost and a dated interface. Growing brokerages with lean ops teams sometimes want something simpler to train on.
  • Teams that want AI without a migration. McLeod customers are adding agents from Augment, CloneOps.ai, Parade and Vooma inside PowerBroker. For many, keeping McLeod and adding an agent layer is the cheaper move. See our AI agent alternatives page.

FreightVero: a smaller broker TMS with the rules in the database

FreightVero is our product. Against McLeod, it’s the newcomer, and it’s a very different size of product.

Best for: Small and mid-size non-asset brokerages that find McLeod more than they need and want published, flat pricing.

Starting price: Starter $349/mo (5 users, 250 loads a month), Growth $749/mo (15 users, unlimited loads), Scale from $1,500/mo (unlimited users), as of September 10, 2026. No per-load fees on any plan. Details on the pricing page.

Strengths

  • Published pricing you can budget against before a sales call.
  • Four checkpoints are enforced in the database, so no user, admin or integration can skip them. Dispatch needs the latest signed rate con version, Freight On Board needs a BOL and freight photos, and Delivered needs a POD and the signer’s full name. See how checkpoints work.
  • Live today: load board, multi-stop load entry, carrier booking with swap history, versioned rate cons, document storage, Load Market tracking with ETA risk colors, alerts, tasks, billing queue with customer billing rules, reports and an append-only audit log.

Drawbacks

  • New, with one design-partner customer, Bronco Logistics. McLeod has four decades of customers.
  • No general ledger, AR or AP, EDI, portals or on-prem option. QuickBooks Online is in development, and EDI is planned.
  • Only one live integration (Load Market). DAT, Truckstop, RMIS, MacroPoint and project44 are planned.

FreightVero is not the right pick if your brokerage depends on McLeod’s accounting, EDI engine or its partner integrations. Moving would cost you functionality you use every day. See FreightVero vs McLeod for detail.

Tai TMS: broker-only cloud TMS with LTL strength

Best for: Brokers and 3PLs moving FTL, LTL and drayage who want a cloud TMS with published tiers.

Starting price: $995/mo on Growth (2 staff logins, 200 shipments), up to $7,925/mo on Pro, as of September 10, 2026 (Tai pricing).

Strengths

  • Published pricing and direct LTL carrier API and EDI connections.
  • Track & Trace voice agent “Included for all Tai customers.”
  • 4.4/5 on Capterra (77 reviews). A reviewer wrote “The LTL functionality is fantastic.”

Drawbacks

  • Descartes acquired Tai on August 24, 2026, and future pricing and product direction aren’t public.
  • Terms “auto-renew in perpetuity” with 60 days’ notice to cancel.
  • A reviewer wrote “Too many bugs with slow support resolution.”

If Tai is on your shortlist, ask Descartes for written answers on pricing and product plans before you sign.

Rose Rocket (TMS.ai): configurable, with agents included

Best for: Mid-market carriers and brokers that want a modern cloud TMS with no-code customization and a set go-live date.

Starting price: “Starting at $2080/month” with unlimited users, as of September 10, 2026 (Rose Rocket pricing).

Strengths

  • “Guaranteed go-live in 90 days” on the Full Service Platform.
  • Serves carriers and brokers, with driver apps, compliance monitoring and a customer portal.
  • AI agents TED, Rosie and Rocky included. Capterra: 4.4/5 (35 reviews), ease of use 4.5.

Drawbacks

  • No on-prem option.
  • A reviewer wrote that integration with other systems “has been a slow progress.”
  • Reporting flexibility is a Capterra complaint, which matters to McLeod users who rely on custom reports.

Turvo: enterprise collaboration platform

Best for: Enterprise 3PLs, brokers and shippers that need shared visibility with customers and carriers.

Starting price: “Starts at $5,000 / Month,” as of September 10, 2026 (Turvo pricing).

Strengths

  • Dedicated onboarding manager, training and data migration included.
  • Turvo names Fortune 500 logistics providers and shippers among its customers, and it powers RyderShare.
  • Owned by Lineage since 2022, with AI through an Augment partnership.

Drawbacks

  • At $5,000 a month minimum, it’s priced for larger operations.
  • One G2 reviewer cited a “1+ year long onboarding.”
  • G2 reviewers mention slow help responses.
  • Contract terms aren’t public.

Revenova: TMS built on Salesforce

Best for: Brokers and 3PLs that already run Salesforce and want CRM and TMS in one system.

Starting price: “Starting at $2,500 USD/company/month” on an annual subscription, per its Salesforce AppExchange listing as of September 10, 2026. Revenova’s own site doesn’t publish pricing (Revenova for brokers).

Strengths

  • CRM, operations and financial tools in one Salesforce-native platform, which removes double entry between CRM and TMS.
  • Artimus AI “reads incoming emails, extracts shipment details, and builds load records,” and answers quote requests.
  • LaneIQ and RateIQ for carrier matching and pricing.

Drawbacks

  • Annual subscription, and you should ask how Salesforce user licenses are handled.
  • Best value depends on already running Salesforce well in-house.
  • Rated 4.91 on Salesforce AppExchange (46 reviews), but its Capterra listing had no reviews when we checked.

Alvys: for carriers leaving LoadMaster

Best for: Carriers and asset-based brokerages that want a cloud TMS with a driver app, IFTA and settlements.

Starting price: “Starts at only $3.95/load” with unlimited users and a custom quote, as of September 10, 2026 (Alvys pricing).

Strengths

  • Cloud-native, with a driver mobile app, IFTA, maintenance and settlements.
  • 120+ integrations “at no extra cost” and no long-term contracts.
  • 4.4/5 on Capterra (51 reviews) and 4.7/5 on G2 (18 reviews).

Drawbacks

  • A Capterra reviewer wrote “Every day there is a bug or an update.”
  • Pricing tiers aren’t published.
  • Smaller partner network than McLeod’s.

How to choose a McLeod alternative

Replacing McLeod is a big project, and the teams that do it well start with a clear reason. Decide first whether you need a new TMS or just less manual work around the one you have.

  • List what McLeod does for you today. Accounting, EDI, portals, imaging, pricing tools. Every item a new TMS can’t do becomes a second system.
  • Ask for a written timeline. Get implementation estimates in writing, including data migration, and ask for references at your size.
  • Compare first-year cost. Include implementation, training, integrations and any time running two systems in parallel.
  • Consider keeping McLeod. If the pain is manual email, check calls and carrier calls, an agent layer on PowerBroker may solve it. FreightVero’s seven AI agents draft and a person approves, for that reason.
  • If you do move, plan the data move carefully. Our TMS migration page covers the questions to ask.

Frequently asked questions

Is McLeod PowerBroker the same as LoadMaster?

No. PowerBroker is McLeod's TMS for freight brokerages and 3PLs. LoadMaster is its dispatch and operations TMS for truckload carriers, and LoadMaster LTL covers LTL carriers. Companies with both a fleet and a brokerage can run both, sharing McLeod's accounting and document tools.

Can McLeod run in the cloud?

Yes. McLeod says its software can be hosted on-premise, in a third-party cloud environment by the customer, or hosted and managed by McLeod through its own cloud service. That flexibility is unusual among the vendors on this page, which are all cloud-only.

How long does a McLeod implementation take?

McLeod doesn't publish an implementation timeline, as of September 10, 2026. Timelines depend on modules, integrations and data migration scope. Ask for a written plan and customer references of similar size during the sales process.

Can FreightVero import data from McLeod?

FreightVero imports customers and carriers from CSV files today, so exports from McLeod can be loaded that way. There's no import for open loads or history yet. We scope any move on a demo call and tell you plainly what's live before you commit.

Which AI partners work inside McLeod PowerBroker?

McLeod announced Augment's agent inside PowerBroker's Digital Freight Matching in August 2026 and a CloneOps.ai voice partnership in October 2025. Parade's Capacity CoDriver has worked with PowerBroker since July 2024, and McLeod's integrations page also lists Vooma. McLeod's own RespondAI builds quotes and orders from inbound emails.
